How to taper off on! pouches, in milligrams

Strengths checked 7 October 2026 against official sources, linked beside each one

on! and on! PLUS come in different strengths, so the same number of pouches can mean very different amounts of nicotine. A taper is easier to follow when it is counted in milligrams per day.

on! strengths with FDA marketing orders

on!

2 and 4 mg

Both are FDA authorized for Autumn Spice, Cappuccino and Rich Berry.
on! PLUS

6 and 9 mg

Both are FDA authorized for Mint, Tobacco and Wintergreen.

Other on! strengths are sold, but we list only those we could confirm from the FDA or the manufacturer. FDA authorization means a product may be sold. It does not mean the FDA has approved it or found it safe.

Why count milligrams, not pouches

A pouch is a container. Six pouches of 2 mg hold less nicotine than four of 4 mg, so a falling pouch count can hide a rising total, and a rising count can hide a falling one. Total milligrams per day, count multiplied by strength, is the number that tells you which way you are going.

An example descent

Starting from eight 4 mg on! a day and reaching zero over 42 days, stepping down to 2 mg when the count gets low. These are the days that matter: the start, each change of strength, and the end.

Reaching zero is one way to end. Some people stop outright on a date they choose, and some step down to a daily amount and hold it there.

The Cochrane review of oral nicotine pouches (2025, CD016220) found no study of how to stop using them, so no schedule, this one included, has evidence behind it.
